AN OLD MINER'S WARNING.
An old miner, who knows the EarnVerley country well, and who is in po-sesaion of recent information, has aupplied the Lyttelton Times with the following : — At Derby, which will -be the port town, lots are rapidly increasing* in value. Food of all sorts is very dear. Flour ie 10£ d per lb. Numbers of people aire down with fever and ague, the rains having been very heavy. There is no use taking New Zealand timber for houses over there, •n account of the white ant. A number of Wellington people are snaking arrangements to leave for Kimberley, and wiU probably leaye here by the barque Carnarvon Castle on the 14th inst. Some of the country residents, who have come in prepared to go to Kimberley, express indignation at the Hero being taken off the berth, as it was on receiving telegrams from: the Wellington agent of the Union Company that they brought their horses, &c, into town, only to find. Wellington, June 7. A number of diggers, principally from tbo West Coast, left to-day by the Hau"foto l or Sydney, en route for Kimberley diggings.
