AN OLD MINER'S WARNING.

An old miner, who knows the EarnVerley country well, and who is in po-sesaion of recent information, has aupplied the Lyttelton Times with the following : — At Derby, which will -be the port town, lots are rapidly increasing* in value. Food of all sorts is very dear. Flour ie 10£ d per lb. Numbers of people aire down with fever and ague, the rains having been very heavy. There is no use taking New Zealand timber for houses over there, •n account of the white ant.
