The New Hebrides
(BEUTSB . TE-BGBAMS.) Sydney, June 6. Intelligence was received to-day from Noumea to the effect that two French men-of-war have left New Caledonia in order to annex the New Hebrides. Great excitement is stated to prevail among the British residents of New Caledonia. June 7. The French war-steamer Dives, which recently left for New Hebrides, took a number of troops and a quantity of building material. Mblbottbnb, Juno 7. The Victorian Government have received no official information concerning the rumored French annexation of the New Hebrides group. The Argus and Age, referring to the subject this morning, are both . inclined to discredit the report. I_AT__R^__RTICULARS.
