The Kimberley Goldfields

1000 OUNCES BROUGHT IN TO

DERBY.

[BEUTKB'S TELEGBIMS.I Mklbodbnb, May 26.

Account! from the Kimberley goldfiVld* continue satisfactory, over a thousand ounce* of gold having been bronght o Derby.

We hare been shown a telegram received by a Feilding settler from the manager of the Union Company, at Wellington, stating that the company intend lying on a steamer for tlie ! Kimberley goldfields on the 13th of June next. The fare is quoted at £15. and the boat will go direct to Cambridge Gulf.

A day or two ago several Feildinf gentlemen interested in the Kimberley gold rush waited on Mr Wylds, at Palnierston. the owner of the schooner Clyde, to ask him if he intended laying on hi a vessel for the nearest port to the diggings. Mr Wjlds said that if sufficient inducement offered he would do «e. She could be fitted for about 40 passengers comfortably, but he would prefer not having more, but to take a cargo aa well. The winds at this season of the year are the most favorable for a voyage in that direction, and Mr Wylds thinks the Clyde, which is a capital seagoing beat, wohW prohably make the trip almost a* quickly as a steamer, inasmuch ns the latter would have to make several stoppages for coaling. Should the vessel be put on, the -matter will be duly notified by advertisement.

The infection of the Kimberly gold fever has reached Wellington, and the s.s Wakotipu, which sailed for Sydney on Saturday evening, conveyed a small party of intending adventurers from this part of tin* colony intent upon trvinjj their fortunps at U>e new Kimberley goldfield. — Post.
