Mrs Sara Allen. ag« d 70 years, for some year resided at Carltou ; but. finding tha •r place getting too hot to hold her, ci a account of the police surveillance, shit tei ' her quarters quite recently to Japonici ,r : Villa, South street, Flemington, an< is , from that address advertised that sh i_ " had accommodation for invalids, wher both comfort and privacy n ere consid 8 ered." The police waited till the trail 8 they had laid was ready for firing, am then, en a recent Saturday, Sergean O'Meara and a posse paid a sarpris Visit, and discovered that two youni women, whose ages were 19 and 18 year respectively, declared that they did no know what had become of their offspring Medical men were summoned, and it wa ascertained that the child of one of thi * girls had been born alive. Mrs Allen wa: c questioned by the police officer, and aftei a great amount of evasion she state. that in both instances .the children wen i dead when born, and that she burned 9 them to save trouble. This statement she afterwards partially contradicted bj hinting that one child might be discov- [ ered in Richmond, but declined to saj 1 in what part. She is under arrest, bui neither she nor her husband will give any information. The detectives have made a thorough search of the premises, but found nothing that affords the least I clue as to. the manner iv which the > children may have been disposed of.
