The Concert

Tbm second concert given by the local "Trial by Jury" Company last night was largely patronised by the public, the Hall being nearly as well filled aj on theirfirst appearance, pressure on our space prevents our giving more than a brief notice of the performance, la the first part the pieces which deserve any special notice, were the violin solos which were played by Mr Cohen in a masterly manner elicited rounds of applause. Miss Atkins aang "Love the' Pilgrim" and "La fleren*U" very charmingly, both songs being recived "with rapture*". Miss Beattie sang " Carissima" very sweetly. We think we have never heard her to better advantage. Messrs HutgilL, Grossman, Gilmer, and Coote, are now such .favorites with the Feilding public that further notice v unnecessary. The real attraction of the evening " Trial k>y Jury" was— if anything I—rather1 — rather better put on the stage than on the foimer occasion. Among " the anxious crowds" we observed among the ladies a Maori girl, iGssFlight(Dickens)« Bed Biding Hood, Sarah Gamp, The Order of The Gross, Flora Mclvor, &c. Among the men, two or three very dissipated and delapidated looking swells, a spooler, Mr Walker, a German doctor, a bald-headed old sinner, a teetotal lecturer, and others too numerous to mention. Altogether the pietie went very smoothly, and was concluded with a grand tableau— red fire, &c., &c. — to the thunder of applause from the audience. Miss Willis presided at the piano, and to her must oe accorded praise for her splendid execution, to which may be attributed * large share of the success of the piece. The bridesmaids looked- as charming as ever, and their appearance on the stage wlaa greeted with tumultuous applause. The company will play in Palmerston pn Monday night.
