We are indebted to F. M. Deighton Esq., Census Inumerator, for fchefol- « lowing information : — The population of the county of . Manawntu (including Foxton, 744), is . — Males, 1,625 ; females, 1,353; total, . 2,978. County of Oroua (including the boroughs of Palmevston North, 2,592, and Feilding, 1298), is— Males, 4,447 ; females, 3,906; total, 8,35.3. . County of Horowhanua — Males,; 677; : fdmales, 306 ; total, 983. The population south of the Bangitikei river being. „• area included in the Manawatu county in 188 V far-Males, 6,749; females,!! 5,565; total, 12,314; increase, 3,504. The population of the census district (including.the counties of RangitiKeif Manawatu, Oroua, and Horowhenbai and all boroughs within their bound-, t aries), is — Males, 9,450 > females, 7,621 ; total, 17,071, being an increase since 1881 of 4,291. In the thretX boroughs the increase is as followr : — Marton, 248 ;. Feilding, 386 ; Palmerston, 1,227; the. town districts remain nearly the same. In the four counties, excising the boroughs, the increase is 2,430. <- NilioM, April 38. The census returns for the city of Nelsen show the population to be to be 7342, including 14 Chinese. - Males, 3577; females, 3749. The total number of buildings is 1460, \ Waipawa, This Day. County census — Males 4355, females 3097; buildings 1607. Wellington, Thii Day. The census returns for Wellington shows the population of the city to b» 26,208. The Hutt county, which' includes Wellington suburb* and country is 20,563.
