FEILDING RACES
The cloudy sky which presented itself to the many anxious pleasure seekers yesterday morning, fulfilled its promise by a drizzling rain from about 8 o'clock until about 2 in the afternoon, when the weather cleared up and enabled visitors to witness the remaining events with some degree of comfort. Owing to the wet the races were not started punctually to time, and the consequence was the Consolation was run in the dark. The only contretemps was the accident to Bayard, which horse broke its two hind legs in the Handicap, and had to be destroyed. The attendance at 2 o'clock was about 800, which number was increased to about 1000 later in the day when the weather lifted and allowed the ladies to make their appearance.
