Feilding Races

r -Notes by "Spur." ' The Fflolding; Jockey Club maybe congratulated on the entries and acceptances for their coming meeting, And now all' that is needed is a fine day to mfcke the races of next Monday a success. '"'■■'- The horses from outside places will be hem during the week. I will reserve my final tips until I have seen some ol them. Every morning at an early hour the local horses may be seen wending their way to the race course. This morning a lot of useful work was done, commencing with a one mile gallop between Paleface and a bay mare of Mr Jackman's. Both went well and pulled up fresh. Myosotis, Diomedes, and Mr Halcombe's horse did useful exorcise. Mermaid and Miss Puritan went 1£ miles together, finishing up the last half mile fast. J. L. Sullivan was cent 2 miles at half speed, going very strong; and if he keeps well till Monday neixt he ought to. pay his owner for his visit to Feilding. Old Shamrock went about 3 miles with tugs on, on the plough, with the owner in the saddle. Mr Belfit's mare did good work, and is improving fast. It would not be out of place to mention that the stewards ought to see the rule with regard to dogs is enforced, as this morning I noticed about half-a-dozen dogs running after the horses, which is not only annoying to the trainers, but dangerous to the riders. I hope that the stewards, trainers, and jockeys will follow the examples of the Wellington and other clubs during their meeting of wearing mourning, out of respect for the late Mr Vallance.
