A Painful Accident
On Tuesday afternoon a man named ISddleston, employed by Mr Saxon, at JPotatau farm, met with a dreadful accident, which will probably prove fatal. Jle was leading a young horse up to tne stable, when by some means we » rope with which he held the fouled with Eddleston's leg. horse became alarmed, and bolted, dragging the unfortunate young man behind it. It took its course in a track close to, and running parallel with a wire fence. Eddleston was thereby dragged in the wires and dashed violently against each -post. The horse slackened speed in £ gully, so that Mr Thomas Henson waa able to cut the rope and release Eddleston. Mr Fred Awdrey,who witnessed the affair, rode away for Dr Johnston. In the meantime the injured man was put in a conveyance and carried to town. On the way Dr Johnston was met, and he returned to the surgery, where an examination was made, and then Eddleston was taken to his own home. The injuries are very serious, and few hop^s are entertained of his recovery.
