Ask Patea;" Feilding asks Patea. Patea is Scotch, evidently, and replies, " We canna lend them till ye. Ye can ha* the use of them for thirty shillings?* " Feilding replies, All right here's the ) 30 bob." Patea tells Wanganui : "Ye : maun send our co-pees ©"Trial by ! Jury' to Feilding." Feilding sets t© work rehearsing, and announces a performance. Manaia now says to Wanganui: "Please send our 'Trial by Jury'" Wanganui replies : "Your 'Trial by Jury,' indeed! Didn't know you had one. Patea has lent its 'Trial by Jury' to Feilding for thirty shillings." Manaia says to Hawera: "Confound you! ,What do you mean by selling us ' Trial by Jury,' when it belongs to Patea?" Hawera replies : " Patea be blowed ! It was ours, and we sold it to you. We'll fix it directly." Then Hawera wires in at Wanganui : " What the deuce do you mean by lending our ' Trial by Jury' to Feilding ?" Wanganui replies: "What the dickens have you do with it ? It's Patea's, and Patea has lent it for thirty shillings. Your ' Trial by Jury,' indeed !" And that is the present position. In the words of the operetta,— Judge: "A nice dilemma we have here that calls for all our wit."
Counsel: "And at this stage it dont appear that we can settle it."
