The report of the Public Works Committee was adopted, and accounts for £51 9s Sd passed for payment. Proposed by Cr Thomson, seconded by Or Fowles, That Mr Eade's letter be received, and if the work can be done for £10, the Engineer be requested to get the work done. — Carried* Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded by Cr Thomson, That the Engineer be instructed to call tenders for the erection of a bridge in Beattie street* according to the plans now submitted to the Council.— Carried. Or Foster proposed, and Cr Worsfold seconded, That an ordinary rate • of Is and a library rate of Id be struck. — Carried. The following tenders were then opened: — . Derby street bridge— J. Belfit £170 11s 4d, F. Thompson £278 10s, Younger and Laing £143 8s 2d, J. Aitken £160 18s; </ Younger and Laing's tender was accepted. ■; Metalling Beattie street, 18 chains —Belfit 30s per chain, Smith £22 for the lot. Smith's tender was accepted; Ferming and metlaling 1 Manchester street, 42 chains.— J. Belfit £137* T. Smith £150^ J. Aitkea £181 ss, Younger and Laing £108 12s 7d. .
