Sudden Death of Mr J. P. Hammond

.>-_?£ £^Te learn from the Advocate that quite a gloom was cast over Bulls on Tuesday on the announcement of the sudden death of Mr J. P. Hammond, of that town. On Sunday evening the news was announced in town of his serious illness from an attack of inflammation of the lungs, and on Monday evening y it became known that he was in a sinking and dangerous state. He was attended from the outset by Dr Frood, but on the evening previous to his death the services of Dr Skerman, of Marton, were called for. The deceased gentleman was much respected throughout the district, and the news has caused widespread regret. He was a member of the Masonic brotherhood, and held the position of sergeant in the Eangitikei Mounted Eifles. The funeral took place to-day, at which a number of Masons from Feilding attended.
