The N.Z.L. & M. A. Company report under date, of March 2.5 th : —

The improvement of prices for New Zealand mutton in the Home market coutiuues. Latest telegraphic advices quote sales at s|d to 6d per lb. A cablegram received from our London manager on the 20th inst., states that the final average price obtained for the frozen lamb ex Euapehua, was fully 7J per lb. In a recent return we have received from our London office, we find that a line of 480 carcases of mutton was distributed throughout the following centres : — Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Preston, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Botherham, Bury, Middleboro', Glasgow, and Belfast. It is gratifying to observe that the area of sale is being so thoroughly extendedDubtbdin. — 3,500 carcases of mutton are now stored at the Burnsido Works ready for shipment per s.s. Aorangi. The Invercargill's cargo of 10,600 carcases, will be ready about the end of March. The Lady Jocelyn is now due from Auckland, and will take 3,000 sheep from Port Chalmers frozen at Timaru. The s.s. Euapehu will follow the Invercargill, to take a shipment which will be frozen at Burnside in April. Christchubch. — Since last report, the clearances of frozen meat from Lyttelton have been as follows : — March 6, per ship Wellington, on account of Mr Grigg, 13,335 carcases lamb and 132 cascases mutton; and per E.M.S. Tongariro, 4,852 carcases cheep, and 1,497 carcases lamb. The extensions and new machinery at Belfast are now complete and in working order. Slaughtering commenced yesterday (24th inst.,) for a shipment of 5,000 carcases sheep and lambs, to he taken by the s.s. lonic. Wellington. — Shipments from this port during March have been as follows: — Per s.s. Arawa, 7,994 carcases mutton, 60 lambs, 1,418 legs mutton, 49 quarters and 118 pieces beef; per E.M.S. Tongariro, 7,225 carcases mutton, 146 lambs, 1,307 legsioutton, and 147 quarters beef.
