[pee united press association.] Christchubch, March 25. Last Bight a fire broke out in the dwellingahouse of Mr R. Trueman, »t Waikari. Trneman, who is a bootmaker, tried to save his child, and both he and the child were burnt to death. A public subscription list has been opened for the family of the deceased, and Mr Whiteford said the deceased was a subject for much public sympathy, and that he would personally receive donations.
