The Feilding Star. TUESDAY, MAECH 28, 1886. Borough Finance

In our leader of Saturday on Borough Finance we did not make special reference to the item Bank overdraft, £350, in expenditure for the year 1886---7, because we assumed that amount had to be paid out of revenue, as stated. The Town Clerk has informed us the above is the amount of overdraft which will appear against the Borough at the end of the current month, but it will not be necessary to pay off the whole amount, as a portion can be carried forward into the following year, I equal to the sum of the deficiency, as j shown by the Estimates. This appears reasonable, as it would be unfair to saddle the rates of one financial year with a debt which has taken several years to accumulate.
