Kiwitea Road Board

An ordinary meeting of the above board was held on Saturday afternoon. Present— Messrs Taylor (chairman), Saxon, Bruce, and Tyerman. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read as follows : From A. Kendall, asking that the name of A. J. Macdonald be placed on the roll in place of his. From District Survey Office, re cost of survey of Barrow's road. From the secretary of the Hospital Board, asking for the Government valuation of the Kiwitea district for 1886. From John Zaionskowki, re state of the continuation of the Cheltenham cross road. From Messrs. Godfrey and Olderehaw, stating that they were willing tq transfer the land required for the deviation of Mackay's road at their own cost. From the District Surveyor, asking I that plans and specifications for work in the Otamakapua might be left for inspection at the Board's office. From the Commissioner of Crown .Lands, disapproving of the board's proposal to expend the whole of the deferred payment moneys in the Waituna on Williamson's road. Petition of settlers on the Ashurst aide of the Pohangina road, asking that something should be done to open a road to their property. Messrs Durlmg, Stretton and Holly waited on the board to urge their <daim. Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Bruce, That tenders be called tor forming and culverting the Chel-tenham-cross road from Wilson's road to Mr Zaionskowski's section, cost not to exceed £60.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Saxon, seconded by Mr Taylor, That the engineer be instructed to have the deviation on Mackay's road laid out. — Carried. Resolved, That the name of A. £ondall be altered on the rate book to A. J. McDonald. Tke deputation from the Harbor Soard Block were informed that if they would do the work required, the board would advance £7 10s. Accounts were passed for payment, and the board adjourned.
