WANGANUI RACES.
The Wanganui Autumn Meeting takes place next week on the 9th and 10th, and all sporting men are flocking into that town. The visitors have had plenty of amusement recently. The Rifle Association meeting and the Palmerston and Turakina Races 1 all eventuating during the past week. In making my selections for next week I will choose for the First Hurdles — Druid 1, Denbigh 2, Porotawa 3. The Derby, I fancy, will be an easy victory for Revoke, with Langsyne second. The Saplings will be a good race if the whole six start, and I rely on Confident or Hippolyta. For the Nursery Stakes I think the winner of the Saplings will be able to hold its own, unless Spray boils the pot over. The great event — the VVanganui Cup of 500 eovs — for which there are 14 acceptors, brings some good horses together, and I shall place my trust in the top weight and expect them to finish thus — Pasha 1, "Waitiri 2, Salvage 3. Flying — I like Rumour best, with Revoke 2, Parvenu 3. The District Race ought to be won by Speculation, Hagar 2, Vera 3. The weights for the second day's Hurdles and the J.C. Handicap are not yet declared. I shall therefore defer my tips for these events till a future issue. Spur.
