The Manapouri Accident

At the inquest held to-day on the body of Alex Morris the jury returned a verdict of accidental death, adding a rider blaming the shippers of the acid. Gisborne, March 1. Mr Laker, third officer of the Manapouri, had taken a turn for the better, and there were strong hopes of his recovery, but yesterday afternoon he underwent a relapse, and spasms again set in. He, suffering greatly for some hours, died at midnight. All the men at the hospital are reported as cooing well. Later. All the men are doing well, but are not out of danger. At the inquest on the body of Mr Laker a verdict of died through inhaling acid was returned.
