STEVENS AND GORTON'S STOCK REPORT.

Since our last we have the pleasure of reporting three very successful sales— at Awahuri on 16th, atMartonon 23rd, and at Feilding on 25th February. The bidding at all these sales was much more spirited, and we sold more stock under the hammer, than has been the case for some time past, showing that the recent rise in prices may be considered of a firmer stand. We sold everything at Awahuri excepting 2 head of cattle, the 700 sheep being all sold under the Hammer. Prices — Fat bullocks £6 2s 6d, 3-yr steers £4 6s, cows with calves £2 15s to £3 os, fat cows £3 15s, yearling steers 34b 6d, mixed weaners 20s, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 6s lOd, old ewes 4s 9d, lambs in wool 4s lOd to 5s Id, lambs shorn 3s 6d, store pigs 7s 6d. We sold everything at Marton with the exception of 12* bullocks, the 650 sheep being all sold under the hammer. Bates realised — Milkers £3 to £4 10s, 18-mo. to 2-yr steers £2 10s, yearling steers 33s 6d, yearlings and 18-mo. mixed 30s, mixed sheep 7s, breeding ewes 6s 3d to 7s 6d, old ewes 5s 3d. At Feilding we sold 2,000 sheep, and all the cattle excepting a peri of fat cows and a milker, only passing in a pen of 50 wethers and 150 ewes. We quote following rates — Forward bullocks £5 12s 6d, 3-yr bullocks £4 17s 6d, 2-yr steers £3 ss, fat cows £3 12s, 2-yr heifers £2 3s 6d, old cows £1 16s, fat sheep Bs, ewes 5s lOd to 7s, half-bred ewes 3s 9d to 4s sd, lambs in wool 5s to 6s, lambs shorn 4s 3d to ss, culled lambs 2s Bd, Romney rams £2 2s, Lincolns £1 Is to £2 2s, pigs 8s to 8s Bd.— Bulls, Feb. 26, 1886.
