The black fellow, who had heard much ado about gold, saw the glittering treasure while he was rambling in the bush, and at once went home to acqunint his master, whereupon Dr Kerr hurried back with Ihe lucky discoverer. In the excitement of separuting the quartz block in which it was encased, and which weighed-about three hundredweight in all, they unfortunately broke the lump into fragments.
