The N.Z.L. and M. Company, under date of December 31, report :- - GRASS SEEDS. Dunedin. — There is no demand ; prices are nominal. Napier. — The season has not yet opened here. Another month should see the saving completed, and prices will then be determined. The area shut up is very limited indeed. HIDES. Christchurch. — For really good lines of heavy weights the demand is active, medium and inferior — consequent on the short supply of the better classes — also meet with readv-sale. Auckland. — The market continues j steady at last quotations, and the demand is fairly active. Wellington. — There is a slight improvement in demand, but prices are unaltered. Napier.— All parcels coming to hand are readily taken up. Prices are, however, ruling low at present. TALLOW AND. FAT. Wellington. — There is a little demand for shipping parcels, but only low prices are offered. Napier. — Demand very limited. Only rough fat and odd lots of tallow saleable. The bulk of the tallow is being shipped. 'Wanganui. — Local business is dull, producers are shipping to London in the hope that prices will rise. SHEEPSKINS. Wellington. — We recently catalogued about 1,000 cross-breds and merinos, and obtained from 3d to 4sd per lb. t Napier. — Skins are comiug to hand in large quantities. At last sale there was a slight improvement observable on previous rates.
