Halcombe Sports
[from our own correspondent.] The fourth annual meeting was held on New Year's Day. The morning set in very wet and cold hut cleared up toward the afternoon. The Halcombe band gave some capital music and the people enjoyed themselves. AU the events were well contested and the committee are to be congratulated upon the way in which the sports were carried out. The following are the results : — Maiden, 200 yards — Ist prize £2, 2nd 15s.— A. Tompkins 1, H. P. Lance 2. Boys' race, 200 yards — Ist prize 15s, 2nd ss.— J. Purkiss 1, T. Foot 2. 100 yards handicap — Ist prize £3, 2nd £I.— M. Belfit 1, Lance 2. Standing high jump — Ist prize 15s, 2nd 5s. — Tokui 1, Laing 2. Obstacle race, 440 yards — Is prize £3, 2nd £1 10s.— Smith 1, Stent 2. One mile handicap — Ist prize £6, 2nd £2.— R. Beliit 1, Sexton 2. Hurdles, 220 yards— lst prLze £3, 2nd £I.— G. Smith 1, Stent 2. Mile Walking Handicap — Ist prize £4, 2nd 30s.— Clark 1, R. Belfit 2. j Local Handicap, 440 yards. — Ist prize £2, 2nd £1, 3rd 10s.— Coote 1, Callagher 2, Sexton 3.
