Manchester Road Board .
The Board met on Saturday -afternoon. Present — Wardens Macarthur (chairman), Linton and Pryce-Jones. The minutss of the last ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read-:— From G. W. Stephenson, applying for the position of Inspector to look after the pile driving and construction of the Gorge bridge. From W. D. Nicholas, applyingfor the position of clerk of works. • From John Saxon, on behalf of certain settlers on the W/anganiii Harbor Bbard/Block, offering to subscribe towards repairing the n_>_>©-*"' part of the Taonui road.. From J. H. Taylor, applying tor a renewal of his slaughter license.'. From A. McCool, applying for his name to be struck off the rate book, as he had sold his property at Ashurst to F. WVFunnell. From William Salisbury, asking the name of John Humphries to tie substituted for his as owner of section No 34, Makino road.. V The report of the committee appointed to accept tenders f or the Gorge bridge waa adopted and their action ratified. , r Warden Linton proposed, and Warden Pryce-Jones seconded, That the transfer of section No 34, from the name of William Salisbury' to that of John Humphries, be made in _ the rate book as requested. — Carried. Warden Pryce-Jones proposed, and Warden Linton seconded; '. Thajfc JtEo transfer of section No 33, from**A. McCool to F. W. Funnell, be made ih the rate book as requested.— Carried. Warden Linton proposed, seconded by Warden Pryce-Jones, That MiTaylor's application for a renewal, off his license to kill great and, small cattle be granted. — Carried. Proposed by Warden Macarth.i|r, seconded by Warden Linton, That^the fee for a slaughtering license for 1886 in the Man.hester Road Board district be one pound sterling, and that the fees payable under the 34th clause oi the Slaughtering Act, 1877, beone haflpenny for every head* *of small cattle and threepence for. every head of great cattle slaughtered, and that Mr C. Bray he slaughterhouse inspec-. tor, receiving the fees of one halfpenny and threepence per head as hisremlx, neration.— Carried^ L: ' J " K i ~ 1 ' ! *" ■"" * - Warden Pryee- Johes gave the foi* lowing notice of motion :— That every I bona fido occupier of 40 acres' and. ' upwards in this road district be allowed •to keep on« dog at a tax ol ;'5s f -9WI -
that every bona fide occupier of 200 acres or more be allowed to keep two dogs at a tax of 5s each, and that a tax of 10s each be charged on ail other dogs. Accounts amounting to £38 13s 5 d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
