Stringent Dairy Law
Anew law enacted *by the last Legislature ot New Yerk Stute, has come into force. It provides that whoever shall, with the intent to defraud, sell, supply, or bring to any butter or cheese manufac tory in this Sfate. any milk, diluted with water, or in any way adulterated, unclean ly or impure, or milk from which any •cmiru lias been taken, or milk commonly known a> skimmed milk, or whoever shall keep b.iclc any part of the milk as strippinits, or v. iioever shall bring or supply milk to smy butter or eheeso manufactory thai is tainted or sour, or whoever shall knowingly bring or suDply to anj butter or elicose manufactory milk drawn frem cows wiiliin fifteen days before parturition, or within three days after paturition, or :tny Imtter or cheese manufacturer who simll knowingly use, or allow any of li is or httr employes or any other person to use for his or her beneiit, or for their own individual benefit, any milk or cream from the milk brought to the said butter or cheese manufacturer, without the consent of all the owners thereof, or nny butter or cheese manufacturer who shall refuse or neglect to keep or cause to be kept a correct account open to the inspection of any one furnishing to such manufacturers, of the amount of milk daily received, or of pounds of butter and the number of cheeses made each day, or the number cv!; or otherwise disposed of, and the weight of e;ich, shall for each and every offence forfeit and pay a sum not less than 25i10l nor more than lOOdol, with cost of suit, to be sued for in any Court of competent jurisdiction, for the benefit ©f the person or persons, firm or association, or corporations, or their assigns, upon whom such, fraud or neglect shall be committed.
