The Dead Hand Mystery

Considerable interest is taken in Christchant in the matter of the dead hand picked up on Sumner beach last Wednesday. Though *■■ rine was found upon it, which has been identified as Mr Howard's, who was drowned on the 10th of October, the Life Insurance offices interested hare not paid the amount of the policies to the widow. Mr Howard was insured for between £2000 and £3000 in various offices, including the Government. A large number of medical men have seen the hand in order to give an opinion as to the time that has elapsed since death. An inquest was held yesterday.
