On the motion of Sir John Robertson, the Legislative Assembly has adjourned until the 9th inst., in order to prevent the Government from proceeding with business. Mblboubhk, December 6. The death is announced of Mr J. B. Were, G.M.G. Adeiaidk, December 5. The Government has abandoned the idea of passing the Federal Council Bill this sesiion and the colony will consequently net be represented at flobart next month. Received December 8, 1 a.m. Melbourne, December 7. P. and O.s R.M.S. Carthage arrived this morniiig. Lord Carrington, the Governor elect of W.8.W., and his suite were passengers. His Lordship and party landed here and will proceed to Sydney arriving there on Saturdaj next, when the official reception of the new Governor take* place. Received December 8, 12-30 p.m: Sydney, This Day. The steamer, Governor Blackall, with the remains of General Scratchley is expejted to arrive here to-morrow when she will proceed to Melbourne. Arrived — Botomahana from New Zealand. Mblbottbne, This Day. The Victorian Parliament will probably be prorogued on the 16th inst. It is considered likely that either the new electoral bills or the reciprocity treaty with Tasmania will be dealt with this session.
