A Seaman Drowned off the R.M.S. Rimutaka

[PEE PNITKD PBISB ASSOCIATIOK.] Ohbutchtjbch, Drcembtr 4. A seaman named McAllister on board the R..M.S. Kimutaka was drowned in Lyttelton harbour this afternoon. It appears that a stage had been rigged on the starboard sidu of the vessel to enable the men t<> bolt up the coal port hole. McAllister, accompanied by the ship's carpenter, got on to the staging,- and shortly after the carpenter left him. Mcallister seems to have missed his foothold and fell into the harbour. He sank immediately, and although two men jumped overboard to try and save him they were unable to get a hold of him, and he was drowned. The body has not been recovered.
