The reception of Lord Carrington, Governor, elect, takes place on Saturday week (December 12th.) Albany, December 1; The Peninsular k Orient Company's Carthage arrived this afternoon with the London mails to October 30. Received December 3, I*3o p.m. Melbourne, December 2. Telegrams from Cooktown to Wellington report that by the latest arrivals from New Guinea, news is brought that Sir Peter Scratchley, High Commissioner, is seriously ill with fever.
