The Home Elections

[KBTJTBBS TELEGRAMS. 1 London, November 28. The latest returns show that the Conservatives have wrested 72 seats from tke Liberals, while the latter hare ousted the Conservatives in 29 instances. The Conservatives candidates have been elected for Shrewsbury, Northern Kensington, Southern Kensington electorates, while the Liberals have secured Battersea and Clapham. Mr O'Doherty was returned unopposed for one. of the Meath electorates. The election reports now give 155 and 167 Liberals. Mr ' Gladstone and Lord Hartington were each elected by a large majority. Mr Parnell and Mr Healy have been returned amongst the members for Cork. At Glasgow, the whole seven seats have been gained by Liberals. Conservatives have been returned for the following places : — Scarborough, Isle of Wight, Wodensbury, Denbigh district, Tynemouth (one seat each), „T anninT ighftTn"hirft (three), and Cumberland (four) ; while for Herefordshire (two) and Northumberland (four) liberals were elected. . During the elections at Nottingham party feeling ran very high, and culminated a riot, during which 50 persons were injured. Received December 1, 1 p.m. London, November 30. The London constituents returned 37 Conservatives and 25 Liberals. For Bradford Yorks, 3 Liberal members have been returned. The Bight Hon. W. E. Forster has been re-elected by a large majority, and Sir John Walsham, the present First Secretary of the British Legation in Paris, has been appointed British Minister to China.
