Wanganui Welter Weight-for-age Hurdle Race, beating Reform, New Year, Dhudeen, 1 Parnell, and Christmas; won ;the Turakina Handicap Hurdles, beating a large field ; and ran a good third for J the Wanganui Grand National Steeplechase, carrying 12st. 71bs., giving the | winner, Ruahine, Ist. slbs., and the second horse, Dhudeen, 2st. slbs., thereby showing tihat he is a weight carrier, and has exceptionally good stnying power. Diomedes was awarded first prize at the Wanganui A. and P. Association's show as a sire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses. Diomedes is a rich bay with black points, stands 16| hands high, with immense bone and muscle, good action, is 7 years old, and is considered to be one of tha -best cross-country horses in New Zealand.
