Willam Poston, a settler at Winton, was killed to-day by the capsizing of his dray, which was leaded with timber. The horse, which was known to have the trick of shying, bolted off the road and through a fence. Poston was fearfully crushed, and was quite dead when the load was lifted off. He leaves a widow and two children.' - Christchubch, November 27. A sad occurrence happened at Lyttelton to day. The infant son of Captai ■ .Vlacey was found head downwards smothered in its bed. Nafifb, November 27. At the inquest on the body of Joseph Wilson, who was drowned at 'the Bila way. Wharf yesterday, a verdict of accidentally drowned wa> returned. Messrs Hoadley and Co. to-day continued the sale of the Biverton estate at Hastings. Out of 1000 acres 300 were sold, realising £45,000. Time did not permit any more to be offered, and the balance was reserved for private sale.
