War Between Servia and Bulgaria

Despatches from the army in Bulgaria announce that the division which crossed the Timok a few days ago, captured Widdin, while the forces operating in the south have taken Radomir. The division advancing upon Slivnitza met with a check. The Bulgarian troops attacked and captured the Servian positions in that neighborhood, after an obstinate resistance. Further reports respecting the engagement near Slivnitza, state that 25,000 Servians and 15,000 Bulgarians were in action. The fighting was of the severest nature, and continued 18 hours. The fighting was renewed yesterday, and was still proceeding when the despatches were forwarded. King Milan claims that his troops are slowly forcing Prince Alexander to retire upon Sofia. King Milan advises that the Servian forces advancing upon Slivnitza have sustained a defeat and are now retir- J ing to Dragoman Pass to await reinforcements. Sofia, November 18. It is estimated that the Servians sustained a loss of upwards of three thousand killed and wounded in the fighting near Slivnitza. The Bulgarian losses are not yet reported. London, November 18. The Servians are now seeking to annex Widdin. It is considered probable that Prince Alexander will resign, the Powers allowing his successor to contract a personal, and not a political union, with Roumelia. The Servian troops in the vicinity of Widdin have dispersed the Bulgarians forces with a heavy loss. In the engagement at Slivnitza Prince- | Alexander displayed great personal bravery. Received November 19. 11*15 a.m Constantinople November 20. A telegraphic dispatch has been received by the Sultan from Prince , Alexander, of Bulgaria. The Prince renders complete submission to the Porte, and announces that the evacuation of Roumelia by the Bulgarian • forces has commenced, aud requests : the Sultan to send him assistance to repulse the invaders.
