Diomedes himself is the winner of the Wanganui Welter Weight-for-age Hurdle Race, beating Reform, New Year, Dhudeen, Parnell, and Christmas; won the Turakina Handicap Hurdles, beating a large fi<?ld ; and ran a good third for j the Wanganui Grand National Steeple- J chase, Parrying 12st. 71bs., giving the ' winner, Ruahine, Ist. olbs^, and the second horse, Dhudeen, 2s>t. 51 bs., thereby showing that he is a weight carrier, and has exceptionally good staying power. Diomedes was awarded first prize at the Wanuanui A. and P. Association's show as a sire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses. Diomedes is a rich bay with black points, stands 16| hands high, with iimmense bone and muscle, good action, j« 7 years old, and is considered to be ei^e of the best cross-country horses in New Zealaud.
