An interview took place en Friday last '' between Mr Macarthur, M.H.R. for Msnnwata, and the Hon. the Minister of Mines, in reference to the testmt of the Pohangina reef. Mr Macarthur asked tiiat Professor Black, qf Otago University, ghould be Sent up to the Pohangina Range*, to report as to the value ofthe reef recently discovered in that locality. Mr Lanarch asked if the obj-et Mr Macarthur had in view would be served if. Professor Black were instructed to examine some of the quartz before it was crashed at the Thames P Mr Maea thur , assented to this course, and the interview terminated on the underdnndine that the • professor should test , sun c of the stone durinf bis visit to the Thames.— Post.
