Success of Musket's Progeny
If any proof is wanted of the great loss the colony has sustained in the ■ death of Musket, it will be found in the extiaordinaiy success of his progeny during the 'last few days. Xn Australia, last week, Trenton and jf ordenf eldt were carrying all before, them, and now we find another Muslipt winning the great spring hanai-"cap-of this colony, the New Zealand ; <jdp, at Christchurch. Fusilade, the ■horse "which has thus distinguised ; 'himself, is a three-year-old son of Husket and Wai-fti, and was bred by -Hr Henry Redwood at that great •Weeding ground of famous thorough3>reds, Spring Creek, Blenheim. As a two-year-old, Fusilade ran twice, winning the Two year-old Flutter, of 2o soys, at Pluuxpton Park, in September, 1884, and being unplaced in , the Welcome stakes at the last Christchurch Metropolitan Meeting. Asa ; . : three-year-old he has appeared twice, *t«., at Geraldiue, where he won the handicap on the first day in ridiculously - eaßyfatibiou, aud then finished nowhere in the Cup <m the second day. In the rasuUs which came to hand yesterday In time for our issue, it will-be noticed that four of the winning horses were ' by ;Musket. These, were Fusilade, : Soudan, Woodnyniph, and Waitiri.
