Manchester Boad Board
The usual meeting was held on Saturday at Mr Bray's office. Present — All the Wardens. The minutes of the previous meet- | ing were read and confirmed. I The following correspondence was read : — From Secretary Kiwitea Road Board, re railway charges for loading wool ; Alfred Gardner -applying ~fo*' permission to fell 27 chains of bush on road line between sections 6" and 7 on Pohingina road; from J. Wilson and Son's re road from their property; from W. G. Leigh requesting his nape to be struck off rate book for section 1 146 Ashhurst, and the name of Mr f lyger substituted'; from John BeSnF asking the Board to allow him 3s per chain for felling bush on Reid's fine between section No. 1 rural Pohangina road and 43 -44 Ashurst about 21 chains; the clerk of county Wairoa* re advertising charges ; from Under-Secretary for Public Works asking "how much money will yefrbe requiredi to complete the Ash- • hurst t>ridgeSin | addition to the sums already graftted; . from G. Lemon, asking that a ce'riauP section be transferred to the Manawatu Highway Board; from; the secretary of the Treasury acknowledging receipt of debentures, also telegram from the same re payment of certain debentures-; =• from Under Secretary for Public Works re grant of £1666 for construction of bridge over the Manawatu Hirer, west of Gorge; from Thomas Neilson, asking 1 payMent^for buohialiing <lune 1 2 months ago ;^frbm J. Herbert Hankins, solicitor, re interest in Adsett's claim against the Board; from secretary Manawatu Boad Board re petition of Bunuythorpe settlers for alteration of boundary line and asking the opinion of this Board bn the subject. Warden Bailey proposed, and Warden Lethbridge seconded, "That the Manchester Boadßoatdiswillingtotake over the management of the road front Bunnythorpe to Oroua River on the south side of the railway line, and to contribute one half of the expense to maintain or construct the same, and that the Manawatu Boad be asked to consent, that Board contributing half. Warden Whibley proposed and Warden Pryce-Jones seconded, That Messrs Beard and Grammer receive permission from the Board to fell the bush they require as per their letters of October 28th and November on road lines Pohangina road. To be paid when the Board is in funds. — Carried. Warden Bailey proposed and Warden Lethbridge secouded, That W. G. Leigh's name be-struckoff the rate book and that of H. T. Flyger substituted.—Carried. Warden Lethbridge proposed and Warden Pryce-Jonw seconded, That the clerk be instructed to write to the . railway authoritiesfora crowing togive .Mr J. Wilson access, to his-prippeiiy.— Carried. -. . •. ''...■'' .. Proposed by Warden Maearthur and Warden Linton seconded, That the Board in answer 'to applications i replies that it is compelled, from want of funds to refrain absolutely from doing any work other than maintenance during the current year. — Carried. Warden Whibly - v-lpicwwL,., and Warden Bailey seconded, That tenders for Reid's line be rejected .as being excessively high.— Carried. Acconnts amounting to £86 10s 3d were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
