On Monday last ameeting was held at the Halcombe hotel for the purpose of considering the advisablenesa of holding the ■usual annual sports in Halcombe at Christmas time. Mr Crabb Was voted to tha chair. The balance sheet of last years' sports was f read and adodted. Jt showed a or«dii baladoe of £2 18s W. A letter was read from MrD. H. Maoftrthur with reference to^Balooimbe hbldinglhe sports on the same day as Feilding: After s»me discussion it was resolved. That the day b« altered to the Ist of January. The following gentlemen were^lectod as Bports Conimittee :— Messrs lacey, J. Heappy, W;. Bell, B. Anderson, H. Orabb, J. Eiley, 3. Purldss, and Coutts. Mb J. Heappy to be Secretary and Treasurer. \ Ecsolved, That all other matters be left in the hands of the Committee who will meet to-night (Thursday), to arrange a programme. ' The committee will canvass for subscriptions. " ; This "was all the business, and a vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings. '
