♦ The installation of the W.M. and officers of the United Manawatu Lodge, No. 1721, E.C., took place at the Palmerston Masonic Lodge last evening, ip the presence of a large gathering of members of the craft. The incoming W.M., Bvo H. W. Haybittle, was duly installed by his predecessor in office, P.M. Bro Bryant, in a most creditable manner, and was ably assisted by P.M. Bro T. King. The ceremony, as it deserved to be, was a most impressive one, and was the means of drawing together an exceedingly large number of visiting brethren from all parts of the district. Nearly . a dozen sister lodges were represented and on the board of installed masters | were the following: — Bros D. H. Macarthur, W. Or. Haybittle, C. Bray, Batt, "W. H. Smith, Swainson, Black, and Spurdle (of Wanganui). At the conclusion of the installation ceremony the brethren adjourned to the supper room adjoining the lodge, where a capital spread was provided. A lengthy programme was gone through embracing the usual loyal and masonic toasts, interspersed with songs. After spending a most enjoyable evening the company broke up at an early hour, with pleasant recollections of the thorough good- will, harmony, and Eleasure that characterised the instalition of the W.M. of the Manawatu Lodge for the year 1885.
