Collision between the Tui and Douglas
Lpb united press association. . Foxton. October 21. On the arrival of the Jane Douglas this morning: Captain Fraser reported to the Collector of Customs here, .that his ship had been in collision witn'tlie steamer Tui. In his report Captain Fraser states that on coming out of Wellington last evening,.. after round*, ing Point Halswell, the Douglas leading, the Tin approached dtt the port side, and although Captain EmHr requested the master of £hf f?ujdjo starboard his helm thre«^ii{ii^j(j|f latter held on her course. "*Efa£ku§t las had rocks on her starbbakliißKie, and could mot give war, the' result being that the' steamers collided >f«frfc quarter of an hour. Eventually- the Douglas stopped, at some risky $nd the two boats then cleared. The report states that some of the lady passengers got ill through ? the- panio caused by the collision.
