CBEUTEBB TKLEGBAMB.I Sydney. October 15. Mr Dibbs aud Sir Henry Parkes are rival candidates for the representation of St. Leonards in the Legislative Assembly. The contest is expected to be a most exciting one. The committee af the Sydney Chamber of Commerce have passed a resolution expressing strongly their disapproval of the provisions of the agreement ea* tered into by the Government for the continuance of the Sau Francisco mail service. New Zealand wheat, 2s lOd ; New Ze&land oats 2s Sd per bushel ; niaiz», 3s 7d per 561bs; Sugar Company's No. 1. L 26 per ton. Melbocbnk, October 15. Lennox has been scratched for the Caulfield Cup. Received October 15, 1.30 a.m. Sydney, October 16. The results of the city and suburban elections were made public to-day. For St. Leonards, Sir Henry Parkes and Mr Ivess were elected, defeating Mr Dibbs Mr Wright, Minister af Publio Work*, also lost his seat for the city electorates. The nett result of the election* is so far decidedly in favor of the Opposition.
