Wool Sales

[bkutrbs tbleobams.l Melboubne, October 15. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (limited) held their opening wool sales for the coming season this afternoon, when the sale rooms were crowded with buyers. The catalogue, which comprised 2100 bales (of which 1000 were sold), elicited spirited biddings throughout, and prices compare favorably with those obtained at recent London sales. Greasy merinos show an average decline as declared with last year's prices, from 15 to 20 per per cent., according to quality, inferior and faulty sorts suffering the greatest diminution. Greasy wools, both merino and crossbred, sold up to eightpence three farthings. Scoured wools fetched as high as two shillings and twopence per pound.
