.+ [beutebs tklegbams.l Melbofbne, October 14. A meeting of merchants and others interested in the export of wool held here to-day was largely attended. Resolutions were passed affirming the desira* bility of taking immediate action with a view to providing new markets for wool. Fully two hundred persons were present at the meeting held yesterday for promoting the wool export trade. Sir James McCulloch presided, and it wa* agreed to f#rm a wool-growers' association. Sydney, October 14. By Intest advices to hand from New Guinea it appears that the High Commissioner, Sir Peter Scratchley, and members of his party, were all in good health when the steamer left. Mr H. O. Forbes, the well-known explorer, had just proceeded into the interier of the island, and it was proposed to undertake the ascent of Mount Ow<?n Stanley.
