v (I»EK UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Melbourne, October 10. The first day's racing of Uie Victorian Turf Club's Caulfield Cup meeting took place to«day. The weather was miserably wet. There was only a oioderate attendance of the public. His Excellency Sir Henry Loch was present duriug the afternoon. Caulfield Guineas ; distance one mile — Bihgmaster, 1; Dunlop, 2; Eagleftraage, 3. Eight horses started for this eTent. Bingmaster held a good position throughout, aud landed an easy winner. Time — One minute fortj-nine seconds. Nordenfeldt maintains the premier i^ position in the betting for the V.X.C. Derby, at 3 to 1 ; Ringmaster, 8 to 1.
