A fire broke out early this uompur , in the Gear Meat Company's Boiling Down Wbrls at Petone, which were destroyed with a large quantity of tal? low. The slaughter yards and freezing works were saved. No particulars yet in town. Later. At the fire at the Gear Meat Company's "Works, the boiling down shed, engine shed, bone shed, and part of the piggery were completely destroyed. The fire is supposed to be the work of an incendiary. The total insurance on their property is £6,070. The following are the insurances on the building plant, &c., destroyed toria, £338, South British, £800, Colonial, - £1200 (about £800 re-in-sured). National, £975.
