A Blunder
— •— I Ohb contemporary the Manawatu Times mentions that a letter "was forwarded by the secretary of the Palmerston Jockey Club to the secretary of the Feildiug Jockey Club, dated August the 22nd. asking that some arrangement should be entered into with a view of adjusting the dates of the race meetings held at the respective places. As there lias been no :
meeting called of the Feilding Jockey Club the letter has not yet been considered. Our contemporary is therefore in error when he assumes that the Feilding Jockey Club will not entertain the proposal. The Feiiding Jockey Club Eace Meeting which is held on Easter Monday does not I clash with the race meeting at Palmerston on Boxing Day, so any delay in considering the letter cannot effect the Palmerston Club. In his anxiety to find fault, and to pose as the protector of Palmerston interests, our contemporary has confused the Feilding Jockey Club with a totally different body, the Feilding Sports Committee. It is well known that '/he Feilding ! Boxing Day Sports existed long before ' the Palmerston Races were heard of, and will continue to be carried on after the Palmerston Races on that day have become a thing of the past.
