Diomedes himself is the winner ©f the Wanganui Welter Weight-for-age Hurdle. Eace,, beating Eeform, New Year, Dhud*!en>-Parneli,- and Christmas; won the Turakina Handicap Hurdles.; beating a large field ; and ran a good third far the Wanganui Grand National Steeplechase, carrying 12st. 71bs., giving the winner, Eaahine, Ist. olbs., and the second horse, Dhudeen, 2st. slbs., thereby showing that he is a weight carrier, and has exceptionally good staying power. Diomedes was awarded first prize at the Waneanui A. and P. Association's show as a sire best calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses. Diomedes is a rich bay with black points, stands 16} hands high, with immense bone and muscle, good action, is 7 years old, and is considered to be one of the best cross-country horses in New Zealand.
