Palmerston Races

The Manawatu Racing Club hna arranged a capital programme for Boxing Day. Owing to a generally expressed wish the Committee hare decided to hold their big meeting in the Autumn, when some very large prizes will be offered and though as a consequence the prizes at the Boxing Day meeting are not bo large as they would otherwise have been, the programme is sufficiently ggod to attract large fields. The following ie a list of the events: — Handicap Hurdles, L3O; Hack Hurdles L 10; Maiden L 25, Novel Hack Race L3O ; Palmerston Guineas — Ist horse 100 guineas ; 2nd horse 10 soys, If miles; Handicap Hack Race LlO, Flying Handicap LSO. We learn that the Committee has adopted the suggestion made by our correspondent "Observer" and reduced the height of the hurdles to 3ft. 6in. The advertisement of the programme will appear in due course. — Manawatu Times.
