Benevolent Society

A meeting of the above was held last night in the Public Hall. F. Y. Lethbridge Esq. in the chair. The minutes of the last annual Bieeting were read and confirmed. The report and balance sheet were read and adopted, which will be published in our next issue. D. H. Macarthur, M.H.R., was elected President, and Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge, and 0. Bray Vice Presidents. The following gentlemen were elected as a committee for the ensuing year : — Messrs "Webster, Stevens, Eade, Kirton, Carthew, Bishop, T. W. K. Foster and J. C. Thompson. ' A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting. A meeting of the Committee was then held, when Mr J. H. Stevens was elected Secretary, and Mr Webster Treasurer. Some ordinary routine business was done, and the meeting adjourned.
