Good News
Ik answer to a question put in the House on Tuesday, the Government stated that a Bill would be introduced in the Legislative Council to enable sales over the counter to be made by Borough Councillors to the municipal authorities. It is seldom that resolutions, such as those carried at Palmerston and Feilding within the hut few days, have so rapidly influenced the Government. We learn from our contemporary the Advocate' that Mr Ward, the K.M., had written to the Minister of Justice pointing out the absurdity of the clauses of the Municipal .Corporations Act -under which* Borough Councillors have recently been fined in Wanganui and Palmerston, and suggesting that the law; should be attended during the current session. We presume this will stop that litigation, "the primary steps of ;which lias already been taken- in several oi the Boiqughs ot the coast.
