Poultry and Produce Society

The, Bangitikei, Oroua, and Manawatu Poultry and Produce Society's show opened in the Town Hall her» this afternoon most propitioruly. ,^H|* exhibits were numerous andin grejit variety, and} began -pouring in from an early, hour this morning, many of them being such as to*" astonish the natives,'? As. the judges,: whose^task must certainly have been an onerous, and in many cases a rather difficult one, : had only, finished awarding the prizes shortly before our' going w> press, this piecludea the possibility of our publishing the prize: list in^ today's issue, and: we can only give 1 "*, shurt general description of this, the second of the Society's exhibitions, and the first show of poultry and produce alone* held in Feilding. •- ■ ■■■■-'■ ■ ; ■*'_ "wraniTv - ■• •:■■ ■-. -- ■;-■ X ' This was of course the leading item, ahd'ihe exhibits were not only in great number, but on the whole wine very fine indeed, most, if not all ; of the 32 varieties catalogued being shown. Altogether there were about 60 pens, including Dorking, Brahma, Spanish, Game, Hamburgh, Houdan, Poland, Leghorn, Langshan, Barndoor and other: breeds, together wktih. Turkeys, Guinea Fowl, Ducks, Geese, &c., many of which were really admirable specimens. Although 18 varieties of this bird were on the catalogue^ only: >:'two specimens were shown, these being a pair ,of fine carriers sent from Kak»riki. 5 '' ■"' l '• I OAOB BIBBS. This was only a small show,* including a pair of cockatoo*paroquets and several cages of canaries and~mulee. A very pretty case of stuffed pheasants andtwoof other birdswerealsoinenlded in this class. '- babbits. • Only two specimens were shown, both being of the pure white Fionch variety. OATS.
